Editorial Policy

Transparency is core to our mission. Here's how we maintain editorial independence while running a sustainable business.

Affiliate Disclosure

We earn money through affiliate partnerships. When you click a link to a tool and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund product research, content creation, and operations without charging readers.

How Affiliates Work

  • We participate in affiliate programs from Impact, PartnerStack, ShareASale, and direct vendor programs
  • Commission rates typically range from 15-30% of the first payment
  • Some programs offer recurring commissions for the lifetime of the customer
  • We receive no payment for rankings, ratings, or editorial coverage

What We Don't Do

  • Accept payment to write positive reviews
  • Rank tools higher because of affiliate relationships
  • Soften criticism of affiliate partners
  • Hide or downplay tools without affiliate programs

Editorial Independence

Our editorial team operates independently from business development and partnerships. Here's how we maintain separation:

  1. Content first: We decide what to cover based on user demand and keyword research, not affiliate availability
  2. Evidence-first reviews: Reviewers evaluate tool fit before checking affiliate status
  3. Post-publication check: Affiliate links are added only after content is finalized
  4. Winner integrity: Tools without affiliate programs can and do win comparisons

Example

GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT have no affiliate programs. They still appear prominently in our comparisons and can win against tools that do pay commissions.

How We Choose What to Cover

We prioritize tools based on:

  1. Search demand: What are people actually searching for?
  2. Market presence: Established tools with real users (G2 reviews, social proof)
  3. Differentiation: Tools that offer something meaningfully different
  4. Accessibility: Publicly available pricing and sign-up (no "contact sales only")

We explicitly do not prioritize tools based on affiliate commission rates or partnership status.

Sponsored Content

We occasionally publish sponsored content. When we do:

  • It is always clearly labeled as sponsored or in partnership
  • We maintain full editorial control over the content
  • Sponsors cannot require positive-only coverage
  • Sponsored content undergoes the same fact-checking as organic content

We do not accept sponsored content that asks us to hide product limitations or guarantee specific conclusions.

Corrections & Updates

Our Correction Policy

  • Factual errors: Triaged first and corrected after evidence review
  • Pricing changes: Updated after we can verify the current source
  • Major feature launches: Comparisons refreshed when the change affects the recommendation
  • Minor updates: Batched into content refreshes when they do not change the verdict

How to Report an Issue

Every page includes a "Report an issue" link. You can also email editorial@clankerclash.ai.

We review reports against the page evidence and current vendor sources. If we made an error, we'll correct it and add a correction note when the change materially affects the page.

  • Include specific, verifiable claims (not vague praise)
  • Present both pros and cons honestly
  • Disclose any material relationships or limitations
  • Be updated regularly to maintain accuracy

For details on how we evaluate tools, see our methodology page.
